The man who is me

snail According to my papers, my name is Milan Horak (to be precise, the last “a” is to be written with an acute, but I am afraid some readers of this page have only got ASCII characters). This name is far from being unique, and that is why I used to write it with an “M” in the middle. It is the initial letter of my christian name Michael. Besides, as a nine years old boy, I earned the nickname “Snail” because of my proverbial velocity.

I was born on the 21st of August 1968 in Prague (for those who do not know the recent czech history: it was the day the Warsaw pact armies started the occupation of Czechoslovakia). I lived in Prague for more than twenty years. Then, I started to move through the world, and several other cities became my home for some time—Stuttgart, Tallinn, Nurnberg, Aichtal, Bingenheim, Uberlingen. Nevertheless, I moved back to Prague in 2000 permanently, and it is probable I will die in Prague, too.

I have attended some schools, of course. The two most important of them were the Charles University in Prague, where I achieved my master grade in mathmatics, and the Priest Seminary of The Christian Community in Stuttgart.

I have worked in a lot of positions, too. Temporarily, I earned my living as a programmer, gardener, translator, private teacher, shop assistant and who-knows-what more. A longer time I have spent working as an assistant of people with special needs in Aichtal near Stuttgart and Bingenheim near Frankfurt. And, since my ordination as a priest in The Christian Community in the spring 1997 I have got a really permanent job. But, it does not prevent me from dabbling in a lot of other subjects.

In The Christian Community, we have no compulsory celibate, so I may disclose that I am happily married since 1995 and have three children.
